This is the new timing system for Bistbox slotcars. Created by slot enthusiasts, for enthusiasts and slot professionals!
Strengths:
1. Ease of use.
It was born from the idea of adapting a timing system to tracks used in rentals and/or homes, therefore driver entry and command screen are simple and intuitive, even after development has made Bistbox the most complete and revolutionary timing system in the field of slotcar racing, including professional ones;
2. Support and development.
The technical creator and the Bistbox development and sales team are Italian and we are great slot enthusiasts, always on the front line at public events. Therefore, maximum presence, constant updates (see here) and immediate response to any need. Not only that: as already done for the Imola club, at their suggestion, the possibility to time rally races was also added, with a special function created in less than a week and immediately made available to everyone with updates;
3. User manual
From the very first version, and continuously updated, the Bistbox user manual is downloadable directly from the site (see here);
4. Innovation
Innovation in the way of thinking about the software. Thinking about the real needs of slot racers, with a simple window and functions that make the use of timing immediate and accessible, while providing everything a club or a simple amateur with his home "track" needs; Few resources required from the PC, works with Windows 10 (and above), saving even on the possible purchase of the PC;
Does not require activation, so the software can run on any PC associated with the Bistbox. A single Bistbox that works on 2, 4, and 6 lanes and to which intermediate times and speed traps can be associated;

5. Field Development
The testing phase began in May 2017, with the many Tuttoslot Track Rental events and the hundreds of races held at each event. A real stress test. The creative and IT mind of UdoKuoio also comes into play, launching ideas and challenges for new features. The same IT mind of Bist, already author of the Bistlap software dedicated to digital tracks, introduces innovative ideas for analog tracks. Development then continues at the Cerro club, with many experienced slot racers who stress the software also from the club side. In December 2017, Bistbox made its debut in a national race: the Coppa Italia Slot, where 40 drivers competed for the first time in a race with fuel consumption. An innovative feature for analog tracks, which was a great success and allowed drivers to manage the race not only in terms of speed, but also in terms of strategy, effectively creating a race with an uncertain outcome until the last corner;
6. Revolution
The new "UDomode" function actually revolutionizes the way of racing with lane rotations.
A step back: the biggest problem with rotation races is human error, which often creates time losses or uncertainties in the assignment of race positions, especially in the presence of multiple heats.
The UDomode function, present in the Bistbox, effectively eliminates the human factor.
By enabling the "UDomode" option, the timed race will end only when all drivers complete the lap in progress once the set time has expired. At the end of the lap, power will be cut to the individual lane (not all together!), stopping all cars just after the finish line. The time taken to reach the finish line, beyond the set heat time, will be deducted at the start of the next heat, keeping the gaps unchanged. At the end of the rotations, the ranking will be drawn up based on the number of laps and the total time taken, to the thousandth of a second, effectively eliminating the possibility of a tie and eliminating the counting of track sectors. In lap races, the management of power at the end of the sessions is the same: power will be cut to the individual lanes as soon as the cars cross the finish line. Because of this, no more piles of stickers scattered in various areas of the track and a single marshal can take care of lane rotation and sticker application.
7. Professional use for events and/or rentals
Track power control: at the green light, Bistbox turns on power to the track and cuts it off at the end of the heat; the "UDoMode" function allows those who carry out professional activities with the tracks not to have to collect the cars around the track at the end of each heat, wasting a lot of time. Each car, once it has finished its lap, will stop just after the finish line. Not only that, with the "F1" function active, all cars will stop after the finish line, once the first car completes the last lap.
8. More innovation
Bistbox is the only timing system with the possibility of inserting fuel consumption in the race. A simple flag and the insertion of a reference time allow a normal race to turn into a real strategy race, as well as a speed race. The algorithm created by Bist allows you to manage consumption based on a fast reference time, customizable with a click. The closer you get to the reference time, the higher the consumption. Therefore, it will be possible to manage different strategies to tackle a race. As we have also seen at the Coppa Italia, there can be various strategies in the race, aiming for pure speed, or aiming for fuel saving to make shorter stops. In the end, exciting races come out, where the forces in the field, although consolidated over time, can be overturned precisely thanks to refueling.
9. Some interesting features and other REVOLUTIONARY ONES
- False start:
power on the track when the lights come on. For the driver who starts before the green, Bistbox will cut power (only to him) for a penalty time that will be chosen when ticking the flag.
- Penalties:
There are not always many people around the track to quickly recover cars that have gone off track. In these cases, at the request of a club with few drivers, we created penalties. In case of an off-track, the race is stopped by cutting power to the track (just press the space bar on the PC or the appropriate button, for those who have it installed) and the penalty is assigned with a click. With penalties active, it will be possible to:
1-choose a maximum number of offs, beyond which Bistbox disqualifies the driver;
2-assign a stop and go time (2-3 seconds) to be served by stopping under the timing bridge, in the same way as refueling;
3-Only for Bistbox PRO, upon restart Bistbox will keep the penalized driver's car stopped for the preset seconds, making him serve the penalty immediately
- Instant choice to do quick races or rotation races;
- instant choice to do timed races (hh:mm:ss) or lap races;
- Immediate driver name entry, for quick races. Same method for rotation races with the possibility to import a list of names from a .txt file;
- In rotation races, in Bistbox it is possible to add new drivers until the qualifying phases are over, allowing even "latecomers" to participate in the race. Also, to allow those with commitments to always race at their best, when assigning heats it is possible to manually choose the drivers to assign to the heat, allowing those who want to leave early not to do qualifying or not to do it at their best.
-Adding drivers to the race, even after rotations have started: same principle as above, but more extreme, since it often happens in clubs that a late driver arrives.
- In case of sudden power failure Bistlap keeps in memory the entire race carried out up to the end of the previous heat, allowing you to turn the computer back on and restore the race;
- F1 mode:
in quick lap races it will be possible to activate the appropriate flag to finish a lap race on the same lap as the winner, without everyone necessarily having to finish the preset laps (just like in F1);
- Endurance with double rotation:
in endurance races it will be possible to make a double (but also triple or quadruple) complete rotation, in this way allowing the possibility of driver change without manually stopping the rotation; example: on a 4-lane track, a 4-hour race can have 8 rotations of 30 minutes, instead of just 4 of 1 hour;
- Race telemetry:
at the end of each race a .csv file is generated in the "tele" folder with all the race session data;
- QrCode for final race screen:
With a PC connected to the internet, by clicking the appropriate button, it will be possible to generate a QrCode that will allow anyone who scans it to view and save the final race results.
- Web function on the network with real time laps and rankings and power cut-off:
The web function on the network works perfectly. This allows all phones connected to the network (to do this just scan a Qrcode on the Bistlap screen) to have all their times and race or test messages and race rankings on their phone; If enabled, it will be possible to use connected phones as a STOP button to pause the race in case of "bridge" or off-track.
- Many other functions available in Bistbox, which you can discover in the user manual, downloadable from the download page.
Bistbox is also produced in the "light" version, that is, without the "UDomode" function and the related power cut-off for individual lanes, as well as the false start. Basically, a timing system with traditional functions for managing rotation races;
It is also produced in the 2-lane version, the latter only for 2 lanes and without the possibility of inserting intermediate times or speed trap. Ideal for home tracks or small clubs;
